AMD RDNA 4 Radeon GPUs Rumored to Mirror RDNA 1 in Product Positioning

AMD RDNA4 Up to RX 8700-Class?
Another day, another RDNA4 rumor. Reliable hardware leaker Golden Pig Upgrade appears to have new information on AMD’s upcoming discrete Radeon GPU series, RDNA4. While AMD hasn’t confirmed the series name, we’ll assume it will be the Radeon RX 8000 series for the sake of this post.
According to Golden Pig, the product positioning for RDNA4 will be similar to RDNA1. This suggests that the series could include products up to the RX 8700 tier, which was the highest SKU class for the first generation of RDNA. The RX 5700XT came equipped with Navi 10 XT GPU and up to 2560 Stream Processors.
Following the release of RDNA1—which, as we remember, was supported by the Vega 20-based Radeon VII for the enthusiast-class—AMD launched the RDNA2 and RDNA3 GPU series. These introduced not only the RX x800-class but also, for the first time since the Radeon R9 390X (Hawaii), the x900 tier.
The reason AMD might not pursue higher tiers with RDNA4 is tied to a rumor that the company has canceled plans for a high-end Navi 41 GPU. Instead, AMD is reportedly shifting its focus to mid-range and entry-level segments.
Two GPUs are expected: Navi 44 and Navi 48. Navi 44 is a lower-tier GPU slated to launch in the second quarter of next year, while Navi 48 could be announced at CES. If the rumor is accurate, Navi 48 might power the future RX 8700-class graphics cards.
