Xyber XPC Cybertruck Mini PC: Powerful Gaming PC with High Temps

The Xyber XPC Cybertruck Mini PC is not just a prototype but a fully functional retail system powered by AMD’s Ryzen 7 8845HS “Hawk Point” APU. This compact gaming machine, inspired by Tesla’s Cybertruck, offers impressive hardware capable of delivering playable frame rates in Triple-A games.

Performance and Design

Tech YouTuber Taki Udon recently tested the Xyber XPC Cybertruck, revealing its capabilities and design. The system, which entered production three weeks ago, is touted as the “Fastest Ryzen 7 Mini PC Truck” by Xyber. This mini PC is not just a novelty for Cybertruck enthusiasts but a real gaming powerhouse with Zen 4-based hardware.

The XPC Cybertruck features a bonnet, four doors, and a trunk, all of which can be opened like the real Cybertruck. It also includes wheels and a steering wheel for mobility. The front headlights are equipped with real LEDs that indicate the PC’s running status. The PC is powered on by pressing the front wheel shocks, which activates the white LED lights.

Hardware and Configuration

Inside, the XPC Cybertruck resembles a typical gaming laptop, with components such as the CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage drive mounted on a custom motherboard. Taki Udon’s teardown revealed that the hardware configuration is similar to the custom PCBs seen in early samples from the manufacturing unit.

However, the company seems to have rushed the earlier models, as the PCB includes several outputs typically found on laptops but inaccessible due to the chassis design.

Gaming Performance

In gaming tests, the XPC Cybertruck achieved 30-40 fps in Final Fantasy XV on standard graphical presets at 1080p resolution while running at 54W TDP. However, the temperature averaged around 80°C, peaking at 100°C. Reducing the TDP to 30W helped maintain temperatures in the 60s (Celsius) without sacrificing performance. The XPC runs indie and less graphically-intensive games like Stray flawlessly at below 30W and performs well in older Triple-A titles like Doom and Spiderman Remastered.

Specifications and Pricing

The XPC Cybertruck is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS APU, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads based on Zen 4 architecture, and an integrated Radeon 780M GPU. Xyber also offers a version based on the Ryzen 7840HS APU, priced at $399. The Ryzen 7 8845HS version can cost up to twice the MSRP of the 7840HS version. The exact launch date for the Ryzen 7840HS edition is yet to be announced, but it is expected to launch next month.
