Intel Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs Set to Launch in 2025: Hybrid and P-Core Only Variants
7/16/2024Intel Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs Set to Launch in 2025: Hybrid and P-Core Only Variants
Intel is gearing up to launch its new Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs in 2025, offering both hybrid and P-Core-only configurations with up to 12 P-Cores. This new lineup will be compatible with the LGA 1700 platforms, which have been in use for several years.
Unveiling Bartlett Lake-S
The details of the Bartlett Lake-S CPUs were revealed by @jaykihn, who outlined the configurations of the various SKUs in the lineup. This new CPU family is designed for desktop platforms, initially targeting Network & Edge applications. The lineup will be divided into two main configurations: hybrid and P-Core only.
P-Core Only Variants
The P-Core only variants of the Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs will feature a new BTL 12+0 die, boasting up to 12 P-Cores. This is a significant increase from the existing 14th Gen family, which maxes out at 8 P-Cores. The P-Core only lineup will cover 125W, 65W, and 45W segments, with SKUs including 12 P-Core Core 9, 10 P-Core Core 7, and 8 P-Core Core 5.
The mention of a 125W CPU suggests a high-end consumer-oriented release for the DIY segment, typically reserved for the unlocked “K-Series” Desktop CPUs. However, the P-Core only family will not include any Core 3 or Core series SKUs.
Hybrid Variants
The hybrid Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs will combine Alder Lake and Raptor Lake dies. These chips will be available in 65W and 45W flavors, with configurations such as 8+16 (B0) Core 7, 6+8 (B0) & 6+4 (C0) Core 5, 4+0 (H0), and 2+0 (H0) Core CPUs. The top hybrid CPU will feature up to 24 cores and 32 threads, matching the current flagship Core i9-13900K/14900K.
Release Timeline
According to the leaker, the hybrid configurations of the Intel Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs are targeting an early January 2025 release, while the P-Core only variants are expected to launch in Q3 2025. This launch timeline is later than the upcoming Arrow Lake-S Desktop lineup. It remains to be seen if the new P-Core only dies will address the instability issues currently faced by Intel’s i9 13th Gen and 14th Gen chips.
