Intel Appoints Dr. Naga Chandrasekaran to Lead Foundry Manufacturing and Supply Chain

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Intel Corporation has announced the appointment of Dr. Naga Chandrasekaran as the chief global operations officer, executive vice president, and general manager of the Intel Foundry Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization. Dr. Chandrasekaran joins Intel from Micron, where he served as the senior vice president for Technology Development. His extensive experience in semiconductor manufacturing and technology development positions him well to lead Intel’s efforts in this critical area.

1. Leadership Transition: Dr. Chandrasekaran succeeds Keyvan Esfarjani, who is retiring after nearly 30 years of dedicated service. Esfarjani’s leadership has been instrumental in establishing a strong foundation for Intel Foundry, particularly in global supply chain resilience and manufacturing excellence.

2. Responsibilities: Dr. Chandrasekaran will oversee Intel Foundry’s worldwide manufacturing operations, including Fab Sort Manufacturing, Assembly Test Manufacturing, strategic planning, corporate quality assurance, and supply chain management.

4. Background: With over 20 years at Micron, Dr. Chandrasekaran has held various senior leadership roles. His expertise spans semiconductor manufacturing, process and equipment development, device technology, and more.

5. Education: Dr. Chandrasekaran holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras, master’s and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma State University, and a master’s degree in information and data science from the University of California, Berkeley. He also has dual executive MBAs from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA-Anderson School of Management) and the National University of Singapore.

6. Intel Foundry’s Mission: The Intel Foundry business encompasses technology development, global manufacturing, and foundry customer service. It aims to provide critical components for designing and manufacturing chips in the AI-driven computing era.
