Intel Lunar Lake CPUs: Unveiling the 8-Core Powerhouse with Battlemage Arc Xe2 iGPU
3/25/2024Intel Lunar Lake CPUs: Unveiling the 8-Core Powerhouse with Battlemage Arc Xe2 iGPU
Intel’s Lunar Lake 8-Core CPUs have been spotted running in Samsung’s
next-gen Galaxy Book5 Pro laptops with Arc Battlemage “Xe2” iGPUs. The
specific sample was running on Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Book5
Pro laptop with the SKU number “NT940XGK-DSD,” succeeding Samsung’s
existing Galaxy Book4 lineup configured with Intel Meteor Lake “Core
Ultra” chips.
Specifications
- CPU: Genuine Intel ® 0000 1.60GHz
- Cores: 8 (4 Lion Cove P-Cores + 4 Skymont E-Cores)
- Threads: 8 (expected to do away with SMT)
- Base Clock: 1.6 GHz
- Boost Clock: Up to 2.8 GHz (still early clocks for this specific chip)
- L3 Cache: 12 MB (2x multiplier hinting at 24 MB)
- L2 Cache: 10 MB
The Intel 8-Core Lunar Lake CPU has also been spotted running on a Windows PC.
Graphics
Intel’s Lunar Lake CPU features the next-generation Battlemage Xe2-LPG graphics architecture. The iGPU, branded under the Arc family, boasts 4 Xe-cores or 64 Vector Engines, totaling 512 ALUs. The chip is clocked at 1.85 GHz and includes 8 MB of L2 cache. The GPU score aligns with previous observations for the Xe2-LPG iGPU.
Features of Lunar Lake CPUs
- Designed for thin and light notebooks
- Lion Cove P-Cores & Skymont E-Cores
- Battlemage “Xe2-LPG” GPU Architecture
- 4+4 Core Configurations (MX-Series)
- On-Package LPDDR5x Memory
- Up to 3x faster NPU performance versus Meteor Lake
- Expected late 2024 launch, with more quantities shipping in early 2025
Early performance figures indicate that Intel Lunar Lake CPUs will provide a hefty performance uplift over Meteor Lake at lower TDPs. Coupled with almost a 2x faster iGPU, this chip is expected to excel in the notebook segment.
Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs promise exciting improvements in performance and efficiency. With its 8-core configuration, impressive cache sizes, and next-gen Battlemage Xe2-LPG graphics, Lunar Lake is set to make a significant impact in the thin and light notebook market.
Keep an eye out for its official release later this year! 🚀
